Lal Bagh has always stood for the ideals of her founder, Miss Isablella Thoburn, who often used the following lines to experess her aim.
"To be the best that I can be,
For Truth and Righteousness and Thee,
Lord of my life, I come."
A Lal Bagh student should have a winsome personality, an eager and alert mind and a rich spiritual life. A true student is the one who seeks to know the best and chooses the best in thoughts, words and actions. For the guidance of the student the following rules are laid down:
1. The student must report at the college on time. They must try to be at the college five minutes early, rather than reaching one minute late. Attending Assembly is compulsory for all students. The first bell assembly rings at 7:20 and 9:20 a.m. respectively in summer and winter as a caution bell for them together on assembly ground for prayer.
2. The students should come neat, clean and in proper college uniform. Parents must not allow their wards to come to college without College uniform, even for picnics, extra class, practical examinations or Board examinations.
3. Students must be regular in attending college, Seventy five per cent attendance is required for promotion and eligibility for annual examinations. Unless it is absolutely necessary students should not take leave besides the declared holiday.
4. When a student wants to avail leave for absence an application giving the name, class and section should reach the college before the attendance is taken in the class, otherwise the student will be marked absent.
5. After ten days continuous-absence without leave the name of the student will be struck off the roll of the class and she will not be re-admitted unless the cause of absence is absolutely genuine.
6. Last day of each month is a half-day when teachers are expected to complete their registers. Students are required to come to college even if they have only two periods that day.
7. No student will be allowed to go home for any reason before the classes are over for the day. Please do not send applications or people to call them from their classes.
8. Parents or relatives will not be allowed to meet students during college hours unless it is absolutely essential due to some special reason.
9. Students are expected to participate in all the co-curricular activities of the college. Parents must encourage them to do so instead of sending applications to exempt them from these activities.
10. Students are expected to devote all their time in the college to acquire knowledge. In their free periods they are expected to go to the Library or remain in their class-room and study quietly.
11. If a student drops out from the college any time in the year, except when the parents are transfered, she will be required to pay full six months fee before a T.C. can be issued to her.
12. A Transfer Certificate is issued after the student has paid T.C. fee of Rs. 10.00 and has filled the withdrawal form taking the clearance certificate from each of the departments of the college.
13. Long leave for weddings and other family functions is discouraged by the college and leave for more than three days is generally not granted.
